چکیده
This paper describes an attempt by the authors to use gamma function fitted using cloud macroand microphysical observations to analyze microphysical growing path and particle size distribution evolution within deep convective clouds. The data used in this study are from ACRIDICON-CHUVA field campaign over Amazon, primarily six flights focusing on cloud microphysics measurements over regions with different aerosol background profiles. The findings of cloud properties under different environments appear to be very interesting. However, the method in using gamma function to interpret cloud microphysical growing path contains serious issues.

(Comment) This paper uses fits of measured cloud droplet size distributions (DSDs) in gamma phase space to investigate warm-phase microphysical cloud properties and the role of “pseudo-forces” in affecting the evolution of the gamma parameters and the DSDs. Overall, I found the description of a unique set of data interesting and formative, and hence believe that the paper is worthy of publicati...

In this research parameterization of the precipitation process in Ogura ;amp Takahashi (O-T) thunderstorm model was improved in microphysical processes, specially in the autoconversion process to form raindrops, in the glaciation process and in the terminal velocities of rain and hail. The rainfall intensity became much heavier with Kesslers parameterization, the second peak of the rainfall i...

[1] The effect of anthropogenic aerosols on clouds has the potential to be a key component for climate change predictions, yet is one of the least understood. It is possible that high aerosol loading can change the convection intensity and hence the electrical activity of thunderstorm clouds. Focusing on the Amazon dry season, where thousands of man‐made forest fires inject smoke into the atmos...

Deep convective clouds (DCCs) are an important player in the climate system. In this paper the authors use remote sensing data mainly from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) cloud product to investigate a few general cloud macroand microphysical properties of DCCs. This investigation concentrates on the tallest convective clouds and associated thick anvils that are labele...
